You thought February was crazy? Wait until you see March at SK
And of course, there’s promotions..

There’s a trend that’s been happening the past 2 years with movies, where the first 3-4 months are fairly quite, mostly dominated by some up and coming, not-well known movies before the real blockbusters start around May. But chances are you’ve noticed 2023 has been built different. With mega hits like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania and Magic Mike: The Last Dance bringing in banger movies early in the year, before surprise hit Cocaine Bear made everyone lose their minds. Well as we said, if you’re a movie fan and you thought Feb was great, get ready for March to just blow you away.

Let’s start off with the big March opener : Creed 3. What’s star Michael B. Jordan’s first seat in the director chair has turned out to be a movie that legitimately challenges the first, Ryan Coogler directed film with a deep, gripping story about brotherhood, betrayal, and the past we tend to try and leave behind. It’s already a believable contender for best on the franchise, and arguably a film that will make this year’s top 10 films. But that just the beginning. Because March is gearing up even more in the coming weeks.
Then there’s the expected superhero blockbuster, because very soon Ant-Man is about to have some DC competition with Shazam :Fury of the God’s coming on March 17th to cause the perfect blend of superhero action, comedy, and Greek mythology as the teenager with a god’s powers gets tested by the daughters of the same gods he draws power from.

Considering the success of Black Adam last year and the previous Shazam movie, it will be interesting seeing this side of DC grow, especially since one of the few parts that’s not getting rebooted.
Then there’s arguably March’s main course: The Baba Yaga. John Wick Chapter 4 will be hitting SK cinemas March 24, and yeah, we can’t wait to see how crazy it gets either.

Reeves’ films have gone from amazing downright unbelievable. And what chapter 4 will bring is something everyone wants to see.
Here’s the crazy part though: even after ALL THAT, there’s still more to expect. March 31st will be bringing the Chris Pine-led Dungeons and Dragons: Honor among thieves, which despite being new is arguably one of the most stacked movies of the year cast wise.
Next to Pine we have Bridgerton’s Regee-Jean Paige, Fast & Furious’ Michelle Rodriguez, Justin Smith, and more. D&D has been a more nerdy, obscure franchise, but in the past few months it’s become a bit of a sleeper hit with shows like The Legend of Vox Machina being based on it as well. And based on the trailers for this movie, I’d want to give it a watch too.
And that’s March. It’s already started on a high note and it’s not slowing down AT ALL. And yes, all the movies mentioned in this article are currently playing or will be playing at Ster-Kinekor cinemas so keep an eye on those release dates. Here’s to a great month of movie watching!
