Sasai’s aggressive (and intrusive) marketing strategy is getting them in trouble with users and Potraz!
It’s getting out of hand now guys….

The Econet-owned Sasai “super messenger” app has gained a lot of publicity ever since it’s launch and what could be considered an impressive amount of customer adoption to boot. However it seems both Sasai and Parent company Econet aren’t satisfied with this and have been aggressively pushing for even faster adoption of the app from consumers. This has come in the form of various promotions (which aren’t all that bad to be honest) , brand ambassador initiatives, and now it seems, accessing a user’s contact list and sending those contacts Sasai promotional texts. And now the issue practice has caught the attention of Portaz!
Multiple posts on Twitter(some shown above) all show users complaining to Sasai or Econet about the practice, some stating the breach on privacy and others just stating that it’s downright wrong or unpleasant. Those on the receiving end of these texts specifically are basically begging to find ways to block the texts if possible and again, now POTRAZ has decided to enter the matter and we all know how interactions between it and Econet tend to go. Either way this practice as we aluded to above, is very abusive of users’ rights and doesnt do Sasai any favors as far as getting people to actuallty use the platform is concerned. If anything it will only make the semi controversial app more unpopular and we could argue that nobody needs that. Now the terms and conditions for Sasai may allow this marketing practice of theirs and if so the case would only get more complicated with POTRAZ’s involvement, however we still need to take a proper look at said terms and conditions to see if Sasai can actually abuse a users contacts in said manner.
