@perspectivezim September has started us of with what looks like the official launch of #Starlink in Zim! This is still in development but it does seem like they are signs of an official launch happening here in September. Either way Starlink"s sheer presence has already helped by how it has made ZOL and Econet prices cheaper! #Starlink #starlinkzimbabwe #zimbabwe #harare #econet #liquidhome #zo #econetwireless #econetwirelesszw #liquidhomeZimbabwe #internet #databundles #fyp #foryoupage #zimfyp #zimtiktokers🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼 #harare #zimtiktok #holyten #voltzjt

The news that Starlink is officially planning to support and roll out it’s services in Zimbabwe this month has basically taken over the tech news cycle, especially with people comparing it to competitors like Econet’s Smart Biz line (which we’ll be reviewing soon). But the biggest question for many has of course been how does one access Starlink if they want to buy it. We’ll that’s what we’re here to help with! Here’s a quick guide on how to sign up for Starlink in Zim!
Now we need to start by acknowledging a few key things here. For starters, right now Starlink is only allowing you to sign up for its wait list in Zimbabwe, meaning you can’t order the full kit just yet, as that part comes later. Meaning right now when you sign up you are being put on said wait list. This may seem unfavorable, especially since it requires a cash deposit, but it helps you have a reserved place when Starlink does launch in Zim. Allowing local connectivity that’s much cheaper than all the people using the previous roaming option. It also allows you to have a spot when it comes to the customers and addresses supported by the satellite coverage. These spots are not actually unlimited, and as such reserving one might be a good idea. Techzim has a much longer article on the advantages of signing up early as well as the whole buying process, but for today we’ll focus on this part specifically and get you guys ready to sign up.
So to sign up for Starlink’s wait list you will need:
To provide an accurate home location through your phone/ Computer’s GPS functionality
$10 USD in a card that can do international transfers e. g. VISA/Mastercard.
The deposit to reserve your place is $9, but we’ve noticed having $10 or even $21 USD in a card is necessary when making the transaction.

Now simply go to Starlink.com. And click where it says residential. You should see an area with a bar and a button that says order now. That will prompt you to provide your location and fill in the required details of your name and available card. If your card is from Zimbabwe just leave “00000” in the zip code section.

Once everything is filled you can process the payment and should receive an email of the payment having been. processed (usually one of three emails that they will send). This email will also contain your account number and allow you to log into the Starlink portal and create a password.
And that’s it, you are now officially on Starlink’s Zimbabwe wait list. Now we agree some of you may not feel the need to rush for this and for that we understand. But if you feel Starlink is something you will need then we suggest you jump in right now. Again, Techzim has a much longer list of everything you can do to order and transport your Kit here, but we’ll go into more of that bit by bit, and hopefully with relevant practical experience as well. Until then, we’ll be covering rivals from Econet, TelOne and ZOL, to help you chose the best internet solution for you.
