Turns out Nokia Android phones are better than Samsung at getting new updates
Another win for the Comeback Kid…

Nokia’s Android devices have been gaining mostly the right amount of traction over the past three years, becoming a preferred choice among many Android fans , both locally and internationally for offering great value and performance for a much lower price than the competition. But if you meant the lower pricing of these phones makes them lower quality options you’ll be pleasantly surprised as a recent study by Counterpoint research shows that Nokia’s phones have better not only have better software support than Samsung’s smartphones, but better than actually all other Android manufacturers’ devices outside of Google themselves.
This is actually a pretty great merit considering that reliable software support hasn’t always been the strong suit for many Android smartphone makers, with even some of the highest specced Android smartphones not even getting the next version of Android even just after they’re released. This is a sharp contrast to Apple who guarantees the latest iOS version for at least 4 years for it’s users, and Google has only saved Pixel devices by offering at least three years guaranteed support. Either way most likely due to most Nokia phones being part of the Android One program(which essentially makes them one step away from Google themselves when it comes to how they manage the software on their phones) , Nokia have largely been staying away from this usual problem with Android, and the study states that 96% of all phones released from late 2018 are already running Android pie. This goes on to add to the fact that older phones get required security updates and certain feature ones as well so Nokia phones are essentially safer than the competition too.In fact both the charts we have here show only Samsung and Xiaomi being second and third, but basically falling quite behind as well.

Again, this is a small win for Nokia as it adds to the appeal of its many devices, which are now beginning to challenge the traditional high end as well with devices like the limited-edition, camera-championing Nokia 9(who’s review you can see below). Perhaps Nokia’s continued success can push other Android manufacturers to start prioritizing their software more, especially at the high and low end. But for now, hats off to you Nokia, the comeback kid of the Android world.
