Here’s how you use Android Apps in the latest Windows 11 Update
Time to finally run Snapchat and excel side by side…if that’s your sort of thing..
Since it was revealed, one of the biggest features advertised for Windows 11 was Android apps, which unfortunately the OS didn’t launch with. That’s about to change however, with the latest Windows 11 Update bringing Android App support among a few other key features. But we won’t keep you, instead we’ll tell you to watch The Verge’s video above to see how it all works.

Now as you’ve probably seen, this isn’t exactly a perfect implementation, despite it actually seeming quite elegant. Firstly , it all runs on the Android Subsystem for Windows which you should download in case you somehow don’t have it. The next thing is how much resources this all requires. Now while Microsoft’s implementation is more elegant, running Android apps in Windows 11 is not completely dissimilar from Bluestacks, especially when it comes to resource usage. The easiest case would RAM, which does start off managed pretty well by Windows but is capable of ballooning especially when running apps like games. However social media apps and apps like Kindle probably won’t drain as much. There’s also the obvious case of if you want to do this, you need a fairly powerful PC. In fact, 8GB of RAM , which by Zim standards tend to be regarded as powerful, is probably not great if you want to play Android games unless if you make sure you run nothing else at the same time. Scalability of the apps also seems to be an issue, as not all apps on android are made for every screen resolution , however if you know what you’re getting, you should be just fine.
And that’s really the major case with Android apps on Windows 11, they work, but you have to be sure of how you want them to work and if you can run them well. So be ready for that and you should be just fine.
