Google DevFest 2024 is happening this Saturday and it looks to be awesome!

Are you working in tech or a tech enthusiast? This is the event for you.

Google Developer Groups Harare has been continued to be one of the longest lasting and vibrant developer communities in Harare, first coming onto my personal radar way back in 2016. This year they are continuing one of their most exciting events of their calendar in Google Devfest, an awesome tech conference for developers, ICT workers and tech enthusiasts and it already looks like it is going to be amazing.
Devfest events have always been a space for everyone who loves or works with tech to meet, learn, connect and grow and this year promises to be no different. The event will be held on Saturday the 25th of October and starts at 9am. It has a wide range of speakers and presentations on topics ranging from AI, Mobile and Web apps, certifications, as well as  remote work and bridging skill gaps between Zimbabwean tech workers and the rest of the world. You can check out the pretty comprehensive list of speakers and topics below:

Beyond the presentations, there is also the BancABC Hackathon done in collaboration with GDG Harare. By the time you are reading this it is unfortunately likely closed for entries already, but if you want to see groups of Zim techies compete in a competition to “Develop a groundbreaking tool to help banks make smarter lending decisions. ”, then make sure to come see the final competitors duke it out to see who can create what looks to be a very interesting Fintech solution.
As mentioned before, DevFest 2024 will commence at 9am at the Harare Institute of Technology. Officially signups are nearing capacity but if you wish to attend you can still join the RSVP waitlist and you should be allowed to attend. The link to the waitlist is here:
Hope to see some of you there, especially since a certain member of our team may or may not be hosting the event as well, so be ready for that!
