Fast X Review: A good start to the final lap that’s sometimes a little too ambitious
If that even applies to a Fast and Furious movie.

Fast and Furious 10 or simply Fast X is the latest installment in the long running adrenaline fueled Fast and Furious Franchise and for the most part it lives up to its name and delivers a mostly decent first part in the end of the franchise. Now how does this movie live up to all the hype? Well, it delivers a heart pounding, high-octane experience that fans of the franchise have come to adore over the years and it also has arguably the best villain in the franchise in the form of Jason Momoa’s Dante.
From the moment the movie starts, Fast X grabs your attention and refuses to let go as the film wastes no time in throwing you head first into the world of fast cars, crazy stunts and physics defying feats, and it’s breathtaking set pieces. Speaking of the set pieces, the chase sequences in this movie are just simply sublime, and if we’re being honest, it’s all something you’ve probably seen before but it’s the execution of the scenes and how well thought out each of the movies individual set pieces is that makes them memorable as well as extremely enjoyable and immersive especially in a cinema setting.

What sets Fast X from it’s other two predecessors in what we may call the “worst” trilogy of fast movies is how it attempts to take an approach which focuses more on character development and we say attempt because it tries this and mostly achieves it but it is ultimately hindered by having too many characters and not enough time to focus on each of the new additions to the fast family particularly Bree Larson’s character Tess who is meant to be Mr Nobody’s daughter and that’s pretty much all we know and Alan Ritchson’s Aimes who is a better character than Tess by far but is mostly just there to be the typical hard boiled police officer who hates street racers (kind of actually sounds like a Need for Speed villain) and a plot twist at the end that just kind of seems like it was shoe horned in for insurance that you’ll come back for the sequel.

The movies saving grace comes in the form of Dante Reyes (Played by Jason Momoa) who comes off as this sadistic, maniacal psychopath whose sole reason for existing is to make Dom and the rest of the family to suffer and for all intents and purposes Momoa knocks it out of the park and actually gives presents Dom with the challenge who to save and who CAN he save and this makes for some interesting moments between Dante and Dom as the back and forth between the two can actually be entertaining.

The actual story of the movie isn’t actually a bad one as it sees the family split up into teams for reasons we cannot delve deeper into and this is another area where Fast X tries to be ambitious but ultimately crashes and burns as not enough time is given to really show how it really affects the family however it does get some points for actually trying to develop certain characters in a better away basically making it avengers infinity war but a version that’s not thought out as much as the plot can sometimes feel predictable and formulaic if you’re someone who is a longtime fan of this franchise.
In conclusion, Fast X is an enjoyable Classic Action movie that feels great to watch in a cinema due to the crazy set pieces and stunning visuals that push the boundaries of what we’ve come to know about the Fast and Furious saga and although this is a pretty sluggish start for the beginning of the end. We can’t wait to see whats in store for Dom and the family in the upcoming years however the predictable yet rushed plot, the sometimes bland characters make it a movie that is perfect for turning your brain off and just watching the visuals instead of the story and this ultimately makes it a must see for all Fast and Furious Fans and action movie enthusiasts alike. So go buy a few tickets and just enjoy the movie for the messy popcorn flick that it is.
