Now to be fair, before Mortal Kombat 9, the story for Mortal Kombat and most other fighting games was barely held together by a string, with a few outcomes from some characters’ arcade mode endings being taken as what would have actually happened the game. With Mortal Kombat 9 however, Netherealm Studios decided they wanted to make an epic tale that would rewrite the mortal Kombat universe, and they did. While no one can say the story for Mk9 deserves an Oscar or equivalent Game Award, it was certainly an amazing ride featuring a fan favorite cast that made you grin when you saw each person’s story segment. Mortal Kombat X’s story mode was a solid follow-up, albeit less groundbreaking than it’s predecessor though it did have some meaningful character progression especially for fan favorite characters like Johnny Cage, Scorpion ad Sub-Zero. Without spoiling anything though , the story of X definitely left us at a crazy spot, with battle lines definitely drawn and traditional characters in the last place you would expect them to be( I mean classic hero character Liu Kang is now the ruler of Outworld, the same hell-like place Scorpion came from). With all these crazy things happening, add in a time-controlling God greater than Raiden (who’s also sort of become evil) , coming to wreck this current timeline and restart everything as she sees fit, and you have the makings of what will likely be an awesome, weird Mortal Kombat story. Jump in on it as soon as you can. In fact, we’ll help you by putting the story modes for MK9 and MKX below. Mortal Kombat 11 releases on April 23 for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
