The New Avengers game is…different, but promising

It’s probably not what you’re used to, but that’s probably a good thing..

By this point in time everyone and their grandmortherknows who the Avengers are. Marvel’s premier superhero team has reached not only comic book royalty status but pop culture royalty as well(just search for the number of people on Twitter who call themselves Thanos). This is why one of the most baffling things for the past few years was why there was no such thing as an Avengers video game. Sure there were the Ultimate Alliance Games, but those games tried to cram in as much of the other parts of the Marvel universe and often skipped key Avengers as well (just try looking for Black Widow, Hulk and Hawkeye) and the first two were released over ten years ago while the third one releasing end of this month is only being released for Nintendo switch. This is even more baffling considering DC has a crazy ton of Batman games, the Injustice series and even an okay PS2 era justice league game. So as you can expect the crowd went wild at this week’s E3 gaming conferece as Square Enix finally unveiled their Avengers game.

The story seems to be based on a theme of loss, with the Avengers having seemingly lost Captain America in an attack and the team having to come back together again. It thematically seems to fit in with the blockbuster Avengers: Endgame but thankfully that’s where the similarities seem to end. Square Enix’s Avengers is a different beast, and as a Marvel fan who has had to watch every single thing to do with Marvel outside of the core comics turned into a clone of the MCU movies, I’m garateful square is going in it’s own direction. Now some people do seemingly hate the darker setting and design of the game and to be fair, I’m not a big fan of the designs either, but again the variety here is appreciated. It will be fun to see what else the game has in store for fans on it’s road to release next year in May and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Also, where’s Hawkeye?(really guys)

You can see an extended reveal of the E3 event below and tell us your thoughts on the new Avengers game or anything to do with the Avengers, comic book games or Marvel and DC in general.
