Folded itself back into shape….

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold was an unfortunate sad story of earlier in tech this year. Despite initially being a skeptic-magnet, the device’s initial impressions among the tech community seemed to be very positive. We even called it the most practical impractical phone based on these initial impressions and it seemed everyone who had ordered one was getting excited to get it on April 26. Then the rest of the week happened. Reports of all it’s faults began to come in and the phone was seemingly breaking faster than prototype test devices do in factories. This led to Samsung indefinitely delaying the devices and foldable phones as a whole seemed to go on a bit of a hiatus from the public’s tech radar.

Thankfully though, that nightmare might be over as A report from Bloomberg suggest that the phone’s new redesigns have likely fixed all of it’s initial problems. The redesigns come in the form of the protective film that now covers the phone’s entire screen and stretches into the bezel so it can’t be removed by users as well as the hinge which flushes with the display and bushes up the coating when opened.

These fixes should likely deal with the debris and protective coating problems that plagued the Galaxy Fold initially, but of course some further testing may be required, especially since Samsung themselves haven’t actually set a new release date for the Fold though this may be because they want the public to focus on the new Galaxy Note 10  that will have it’s unveiling event on August 7.

Either way there is definitely an increased amount of scrutiny around the Galaxy Fold now and folding phones in general. Samsung will have to work back whatever goodwill it had initially gathered so we truly hop they can pull it of for their own sake and that of folding devices in general.
