Facebook is apparently planning to run undersea internet cables around the continent to increase our internet bandwidth here, in a move to of course secure more African users for its social media empire. The project will apparently be called Simba, after the Lion King (these people realize that wasn’t a true story right? And don’t you dare change the name to T’Chala )Now of course we won’t mind any chance at getting better internet connectivity, even if this will mostly benefit coastal countries and cities. Hopefully the project can gain enough momentum to totally get of the ground (Facebook has cancelled similar projects before) and we can keep getting more investment in the Internet infrastructure our country desperately needs.
