Despite multiple advances in our smartphone and mobile interfaces, the USSD code has provided a reliable, universal interface for mobile phone manufacturers and mobile network providers. This is why it’s stuck around for so long, and while some of us would prefer a competent app interface replacing USSD codes, we also sort of wouldn’t want that to happen.
